Last night we wandered over to The Factory Gastrobar. It’s just a few steps from D’s front door, so there’s no fighting traffic or parking issues. There were quite a few people out on the patio but we chose to eat inside, although the sun was just at the right level that it was pretty much blinding the chefs as it blazed through the window we sat next to. Their menu changes with the season and they do a good job with the whole local and organic thing. I like their selection of microbrews but I don’t think I’ve tried any of their wines. We’ve eaten there a couple of time and the food has always been tasty. The portions are sized right although if you’re used to some of the super sized meals you get at some of the chain restaurants you might be disappointed. Last night I had the Los Cerritos Salad, it was fresh greens, with green onion, red pepper, orange slices, avocado, basil, soy glazed almonds, all on a bed of noodles with a citrus miso dressing. It was excellent. They used to have a salad of the same name that had orzo and manchego cheese so I was pleased that it had been changed up and veganized to boot. D. ordered a Mai Bock and I got an iced tea but after a sip of his bock I ordered one too, to go with dinner. It had a nice crispy sweetness to it that just seemed to meld nicely with the citrus dressing on the salad. Love to have local places with good food and drinks that are within walking distance, it makes spring and summer evenings such a pleasure!
