Manzanita Memories

We have spent the past three Valentine’s Days cozied up at the Manzanita Cottages and I thought I’d give you a little tour.  Manzanita Cottages are located in lovely Laguna Beach.  It’s almost like walking into a fairytale as you descend a steep flight of stairs into a courtyard surrounded by four darling cottages with a wishing well in the center of the courtyard.  Each has a different color theme; we’ve stayed in all but the green cottage.  The first year we went was a surprise getaway for D. that I had arranged.  We had a little bit of a rough start when there was a mix up with the cottage we got.  After several frantic phone calls and emails we got things straightened out and we settled in.  We spent that entire rainy weekend holed up with movies and reading materials.  I think we probably left the house once, it was awesome.  That’s the beauty of this place, you can unplug, recharge and totally relax.  If you don’t want to stay in though you have central Laguna just a short stroll down the hill (of course you have to come back up the hill, but what’s a little huffing and puffing).  If you ever find yourself in Southern California check these places out.

Greeted by the wishing well

come on into our blue cottage

heat up water for tea in the kitchen

then settle in for a good read or a nap…ahhhh

Stroll down the hill to town to enjoy an evening out or a sunset stroll on the beach…

Can’t wait to go back.

    Hello,

i was thinking about staying at the Manzanita Cottages in May. Can you tell me which of the cottages you think is best? I was thinking about staying in the red one bc of the vaulted wood ceilings but the yellow one looks nice too.

    Thank you,

    Sommer

    • Sommer, Actually the interiors of all the cottages are pretty much the same. We’ve stayed or been in all 4 cottages I would say the blue or green cottage are my favorites because they have a little back area. The green cottage has a barbeque on it’s little back porch. Any one you stay in though, you’ll fall in love with the place. Really a great place to get away and recharge. You can walk down to the Whole Foods and stock up so you never have to leave the place, or you can wander down the hill and enjoy all the restaurants, galleries and shops that make up Laguna. Have fun! Dawn
